I am super excited to announce a new collaboration that is very close to my heart: I had the chance to work with Café Yamabiko, a local coffee shop that is simply wonderful, filled with charm and personality. This project was much more than just a professional collaboration; it became an incredible human and artistic adventure!
It all started with Nahoko, the passionate owner of Café Yamabiko. From our first meeting, her overflowing energy and creative ideas completely won me over. Together, we envisioned a collection of super nice pieces, designed to enhance the experience of everyone who spends time at the café. From mugs that are comfortable to hold, to ultra-cozy tumblers, and designs that are simple yet elegant—every piece is thoughtfully created to reflect the soul and authenticity of this very special place.
The magic of collaboration
What makes this project truly unique is Nahoko's total involvement in every step of the creation process. We spent a lot of time discussing how the pieces could highlight elements like latte art, by offering a nice canvas for the foam to really shine. We also wanted to bring a dynamic and modern touch, with a bit of a pop feel, while maintaining that relaxed and cozy atmosphere that makes the café so charming.
These exchanges guided my choices of shapes, textures, and colors, creating the perfect mix of fresh energy and comforting warmth. Working side by side like that allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and discover my art from a new angle.
Challenges and successes
As with any great adventure, there were small challenges to overcome. Nahoko was so involved in the process—she even participated in trimming and glazing the pieces—that it added a beautiful dimension to our collaboration! In addition to finding the perfect balance between beauty and functionality, and meeting the practical needs of a café, we had to adjust our schedules so that our work synchronized perfectly.
Every step needed to be well-planned to avoid any wasted time or pieces that had to be redone. But, in the end, all those little adjustments made the result even more satisfying! When I saw the pieces in place, ready to hold delicious coffee and pretty latte foam, I felt immense pride!
Go behind the scenes
If you are curious to discover everything behind this adventure, I invite you to take a look at the superb photos taken by Tristan Corbeil Lapointe. These images tell a visual story that perfectly complements this narrative, and show all the care and passion invested in this collaboration.
A huge thank you to Nahoko for her trust and to you, dear readers, for your constant support. If you are in the area, stop by Café Yamabiko for a break, enjoy a good coffee, and let these unique pieces make your moment even more special. That is exactly the spirit of this collaboration: to bring a little bit of beauty and meaning to the small pleasures of everyday life. ❤️
